  5. conservative (RELIGION, Jan. 16), but because they will not
  6. compromise the truths and tradition of Roman Catholic beliefs. Pope
  7. John Paul II is doing his job as "father" in the faith in order to
  8. keep it alive.

  14. that more and more people who are uncomfortable with his
  15. conservatism will choose to worship outside his grasp.
